The school of choice for our community, one of the best schools in Western Australia, and a driving force in the development of the dynamic Pilbara region.
We take pride in the all-round achievement of our students and strive to instil high personal goals through various academic and sporting initiatives and extra curricula programmes.
Nickol House was originally and continues to be named after the Nickol River just north of the Karratha area. In addition, in Feb 18 2014 each house adopted a “Patron Saint” and Brother Ollie Pickett is the Patron Saint of Nickol. Ollie was one of the founding brothers in the College and he would still be known by many of the older members of the Karratha community.
Brother Ollie was one of the founders of Wheelchairs for Kids and this fact is acknowledged in the Nickol logo (demonstrated above) which has a series of circles representing wheels. Wheelchairs for Kids is the Nickol House charity and holds fundraising events throughout the year contributing to Brother Ollie’s foundation. Over the years the funds raised have equated to the supply of much needed wheelchairs to countries all over the world. Nickol House uses Brother Ollie Picket’s example to make the most of our gifts and talents so that we can be the best we can be and make a difference in our world.
