The school of choice for our community, one of the best schools in Western Australia, and a driving force in the development of the dynamic Pilbara region.
We take pride in the all-round achievement of our students and strive to instil high personal goals through various academic and sporting initiatives and extra curricula programmes.
Fortescue House takes its name from the Fortescue River which flows south of Karratha. Our House patron is Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint. Mary Mackillop once said, “Never see a need without doing something about it”, and this saying guides our day-to-day focus. We strive to look for things that need doing around our school community, however small, and take action to do them. Throughout the year we raise money for our House charity, the Mary MacKillop Foundation, which aims to support small, life-changing projects, particularly in regional communities throughout Australia. Fortescue’s motto, Strength through Unity, inspires us to make sure we have maximum participation and involvement in House activities to achieve the best we possibly can by working together. Fortescue’s identifying colour is blue and our mascot, the mighty shark, can be spotted in our House block most days and, of course, cheering us on at carnivals!
