Year 12 University Information Update

TISC (Tertiary Institutions Service Centre) is responsible for processing school leavers’ applications for undergraduate courses at Western Australian universities (UWA, Curtin, ECU and Murdoch).  Students wishing to apply for Notre Dame University can do so directly through the university admissions office.

You may be aware that, due to Covid-19, some universities are announcing alternative entry pathways for 2021 to provide reassurance to Year 12 students during the current period of uncertainty.  With ongoing cooperation between TISC and SCSA, we are confident that students on the ATAR pathway can be awarded a valid and reliable ATAR at the end of 2020.

We encourage all students to continue working solidly on their Year 12 studies, even if they secure an early offer, to make sure they are adequately prepared for subsequent tertiary study or other opportunities.

TISC will be opening applications for 2021 entry earlier than usual, from 18 May 2020.  The early opening will assist students who wish to apply for an early offer from Curtin University; however, information on courses from all four TISC member universities will also be available. Murdoch University and UWA have also announced early offer initiatives, but these are currently being handled directly by each institution.  Some courses are not available for early offers, more courses will be added/become available between May and the end of the year.

Applying to university can feel a bit daunting, but you have the support to get through the process without too much trouble if you take your time, read the information carefully and ask for help when you need it.  TISC has provided a guide to the five steps to university entry.  Please visit the link: http://www.tisc.edu.au/static/guide/university-admissions-five-steps.tisc.

Please note, students who are on the Certificate IV + ATAR English pathway are eligible to apply to universities through the same processes as ATAR students.  Certificate IV students will be able to apply for courses at some universities that require a 70 score, there are plenty of options available.

St Thomas More College Accommodation is based in Cawley, Perth with Matilda Bay and UWA at your front doorstep and Kings Park as your backyard.  They accommodate students who wish to attend any of the WA universities, providing furnished rooms, free unlimited internet access, cleaning, plenty of communal and recreational spaces as well as academic support.

Applications are now open.

Students are encouraged to collect university brochures from our library.
