Our Year 10 students spent a morning participating in a ‘Speed Careering’ workshop. VET Coordinator, Carol Potter, and Helen Korda from the Jobs & Skills Centre worked together in selecting specific industry areas that Year 10 students had expressed interests in.
Representatives from a variety of local industries engaged with small groups of students in a rotational system in 5 minute ‘speed careering’ sessions. Discussions were focused around questions such as:
- What personal qualities do you think a person needs for your job role?
- What qualifications or training is required for the job role?
- How did you get into your job role?
- What did you do before the job role you are currently in?
This marvellous opportunity provided students with a better understanding of future career opportunities, assisting in narrowing down their choices as they make significant decisions ahead of Year 11, 12 and beyond. We pride ourselves in assisting each student with their pathway choice and providing support along their journey.
