St Luke’s College is a Catholic co-educational college founded on the dual ethos of the Christian Brothers and the Presentation Sisters. We are a Catholic learning community seeking to develop young people to be the best they can be, make a positive difference in the world and actively live their faith.
The College opened in 1987 and is the Pilbara’s only Catholic secondary College, currently catering for 360 students from Years 7-12 from the city of Karratha, as well as the surrounding towns of Dampier, Wickham, Roebourne and Point Samson.
Our College seeks to provide the very best of opportunities to the students of the Pilbara in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits, whilst working closely with local industry and community. In addition to providing a wide range of opportunities to students, we also seek to build strong student and community relationships as part of our pastoral care approach, one which focusses on catering for the positive social, emotional and spiritual growth of all students. The College provides a vertical house system which encourages strong student bonds across year groups and builds on the student mentoring program operating within the school. Our students identify strongly with their House identity and Patrons and are offered many opportunities to actively live and grow their faith.
In 2017, the College has completed our new Performing Arts Centre, which has outstanding resources, including two performance areas, digital photography lab, gallery and astronomy observatory. These new facilities ensure that we can offer a wide range of creative programs in a 21st century learning space. This building adds to our improvements in other areas, including a new Science laboratory in 2016 and the completion of Fortescue House block, including 4 new classrooms in 2015.
The College is in a continual cycle of improvement, with an ongoing focus on academic standards, student engagement and improvement of College resources. Our students have strong attendance record and are well regarded in our local community due to our belief that students can always fulfil our high expectations. Our graduates have gone on to study in a wide range of areas, including medicine, engineering, business and education as a result of our dual focus on pastoral care and academic outcomes.
St Luke’s is blessed with a supportive community of staff, students, parents and wider community. The staff and parents are committed to the College and constantly seeking methods for improvement. The generous commitment of the Friends of St Luke (FOSL) and the Board is testament to the support from the parent body. Our dedicated staff members continue to work toward our vision: to be the school of choice for our community, one of the best schools in Western Australia, and a driving force in the development of the dynamic Pilbara region.
We look forward to welcoming you to our College.
