GREaT Hospital Program

YEAR 10 CAREERS

During a Careers class earlier this term, I presented an opportunity available to all year 10 students who may be interested in Health, Medicine, Nursing, Therapy and Dentistry. WA Health runs the GREaT Hospital Program for Year 10 students. The program offers a three-day work experience at the Karratha Health Campus, each day in a different department to gain a holistic experience of the general running of a hospital environment. The three areas at the hospital being Ambulatory Care, General Ward and Population Health.

Students that are interested in the program can apply online. Applications opened on Monday,  3 February and closes on Friday, 13 March 2020 (5 pm).  Please see the link to the website below for detailed information on the program:

Successful students will be notified early in April via email and those that have been unsuccessful will be notified by the end of April. Students are required to use their school email address when submitting their application. Placements occur at different dates during Terms 2 – 4. There are no placements during the school holidays.

I want to advise students when they are working through their application to make sure they use good sentence construction with no spelling mistakes (best to write their responses in a word document and copy/paste to the application box).

In addition, students will be required to be up to date with all childhood and adolescent immunisations and a 2020 flu shot to protect themselves during the placement.

Please note, this program is only available to Year 10 students.
