This year we had the pleasure of holding our biannual showcase titled ‘MOSAIC’, which is an acronym for Masterpiece of Sound, Arts, Imagination and Choreography.
The showcase provided our students with the opportunity to display their artistic talents to St Luke’s College and the wider Karratha community.
The night of the showcase began with an art exhibition in the Performing Arts Centre, which was curated by Mrs Petrina Sladen. Artworks by our students in Years 8- 11 were on display and it sure did impress those who came to view.
Our showcase had a wide variety of acts ranging from drumming, piano pieces, singing, dance acts, comedy-drama, and monologues, and contained solo, duo and group performances.
Both cast and crew put in an enormous effort in the weeks leading up to the showcase, with rehearsals every Tuesday and Thursday after school for the whole of Term 3.
It takes a huge amount of courage to get up and perform in front of a live audience. The Arts team is so proud of the students who managed to push through the pre-show nerves and get up on stage and perform to such a high standard.
As always there was the staff performance on the night, which did not fail to entertain. It was great to see so many staff members on stage dancing and having a great time with their colleagues.
Congratulations to Kobi Hill for winning the People’s Choice Award for her performance of an original song titled ‘Thought of You’, which she wrote herself and to Teniel Hadley, who won People’s Choice Award for her painting titled ‘Mula Mula Meander’.
The whole production was a massive team effort, and I would like to acknowledge and thank the amazing staff that I get the pleasure to work with every day. Miss Laura Alban, Miss Kerry Dasborough, Mrs Phaedra Fenner, Miss Sharny Joyce and Mrs Petrina Sladen.
